Residential Cork flooring

Whether you are just looking to change up the visual style of your home or are need of new flooring for it, cork it the way to go. Here is why.

Cork has been around for thousands of years. It has been used to make weapons, tools, and scared artifacts, amongst many other things. It has only been used to make flooring en masse within the past two decades or so. However, it has been a relatively obscure additional to the average home until the past five years or so. Since then its presence has caught many flooring companies off guard, snowballing year after year, as demand for it continues to increase.

Cork possesses several unique characteristics that make it truly one of the premier flooring choices. The nature of cork is firm but flexible, strong but reactive. This is a great feature to have in a residential floor because most homes have pets and/or children, and they spent a notably amount of time on the floor. They play on it, they can sleep on it, and they most certainly jump on it. This flexible surface cushions falls somewhat and makes it more comfortable to walk around barefoot. Also, cork tends to be warm in the winter and cool in the summer, which is also inductive to shoeless foot traffic and those spending a good amount of time on them.

Residential floors tend to be exposed to food and drink rather frequently, but cork is moisture, mold, and insect resistant. So, common concerns associated with spills and messes need to take up an unreasonable amount of time. Snacks such as cookies and chips sweep off cork floors easy, unlike carpets where extensive vacuuming is needed to avoid bugs. Spill can be simply cleaned up with a few paper towels. Spills on carpets can cost hundreds of dollars to remove.

Cork is also scratch resistant. This means that your dog won't mark up the floor in its favorite play spots, and your husband won't tear up that floor near this favorite spot to watch Monday night football. Your kids can play with their toys right on the floor without dismay.

Although it takes a very long time to wear down a cork floor, once this does occur, it can be easily refinished, restoring its original luster. Cork floors come in basically any shade or stain that hardwood or bamboo come in. Ergo, as far as design and style, the sky is the limit.

Moreover, cork trees do not have to be chopped down for their cork, as others trees do for lumber. This means that you will not be part of the devastation of  vibrant ecologically diverse habitats to impress your friends and in-laws with your new floor. Guilt-free products are always the best. And you'll find, nevertheless, it costs no more than hardwood itself, if not less.

You can have a residential floor that is both practical and stunning without breaking the bank. Who's against that?
